Xavier Celaya
Xavier Celaya is a cognitive neuroscientist and doctoral researcher at the University of California, Riverside, with a Master of Arts in Psychology from Arizona State University. His research focuses on experimental design and the assessment of cognitive systems, with a particular emphasis on prospective memory and attention control. Within the Memory & Attention Control (MAC) Laboratory, he manages study design, data collection, and analysis across diverse populations, including elite athletes, community-based individual differences samples, and clinical groups.
Xavier’s work explores how these cognitive systems are modulated by various factors, ranging from motivation in large-sample studies to the therapeutic potential of psychedelics for veterans with PTSD. He also investigates the neurochemical basis of behavior through clinical collaborations that measure real-time signaling in the human brain during task performance. His goal is to provide a comprehensive understanding of human cognition by integrating experimental psychology with insights from both high-performance and clinical contexts.
