Be part of groundbreaking research at the intersection of tradition and science
Support Healing. Transform Lives.
Support a movement that honours Indigenous wisdom and uses rigorous clinical methods to explore sacred plant medicine's potential to heal trauma and transform lives.
Unlocking Hope for PTSD Recovery and Beyond
Thus far, over 82% of veterans who have participated in our retreats no longer meet diagnostic criteria for PTSD at a six-month follow-up.
That’s not just a statistic—it’s a breakthrough in healing trauma, made possible by Indigenous-led healing traditions in the Peruvian Amazon. With your support, we will expand our research in 2025 to serve more individuals in need and build upon the foundational data that brings credibility, visibility, and understanding to the scientific literature on this powerful form of healing.

Your Contribution Powers Real Research and Real Healing
Our $100,000 fundraising goal will directly support:
Ethical, pioneering research using cutting-edge scientific and clinical methods.
Exploration of the epigenetic, neuroimaging, gut microbiome, and psychological effects of ayahuasca and other sacred plant medicines.
A full Shipibo-led ayahuasca retreat experience for at least 32 veterans and athletes suffering from trauma.
Strengthening the bridge between traditional Indigenous wisdom and modern clinical research.
This is how we continue building evidence and expanding access to truly transformational healing.
Why Now? Because the Need Has Never Been Greater
32 new datasets across the mind, brain, body, and spirit will bring us dramatically closer to validating ayahuasca as a viable treatment for trauma, and will be enough to push forward our scientific understanding.
Collecting the equivalent amount of data in a hospital trial would cost millions of dollars.
And here’s why it matters:
Since 2011, more soldiers have died by suicide than in combat.
But PTSD isn’t just a military issue—it affects millions worldwide:
In the UK alone, 50-70% of the population will experience trauma and 1 in 10 will develop PTSD
In the US, approximately 3.5% of U.S. adults are affected by PTSD each year
Given that PTSD has a lifetime prevalence of around 6%,* with high rates of comorbidity and treatment-resistance, the lack of effective treatments represents a barrier to helping hundreds of millions of people around the world.
Despite the growing need, existing treatments are failing millions. Ayahuasca—when approached with cultural integrity and clinical rigor—may offer one of the most powerful breakthroughs in modern mental health.

We Need Better Treatments—Not Just for Veterans, But for Everyone
PTSD and trauma don’t discriminate. They impact civilians, families, first responders, athletes, and everyday people around the world. Your support helps us explore treatment that works, for the people who need it most.
Expanding Research Beyond PTSD.
The Next Frontier: Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)
In 2025, we are also partnering with Athlete’s Journey Home to explore the impact of sacred plant medicine in treating Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), often a physiological signature of psychological trauma.
Advocates from sports such as MMA, boxing, football, rugby, and more are raising awareness of the long-term mental and emotional toll of TBI. Many of them have already shared testimonies of healing through sacred plant medicine. This research could unlock new approaches for mental health, identity, and self-worth in populations beyond the military.
If veterans and athletes can benefit from ayahuasca-assisted healing, imagine the possibilities for the general population.

Join Us. Be Part of the Solution.
This is not just a study—it’s a movement. And the results speak for themselves.
So do the veterans who have already experienced this transformation:
“I am the person I’m supposed to be and I’ve found that again — because for a long time I was lost.”
“The solution (before these ceremonies) was always more antidepressants…stronger antidepressants…and it was like ‘to what end, am I going to die on these antidepressants?”
“Having donors and having people who help support this is just so kind, and it’s contributing to the healing of us as individuals; and then hopefully collectively all society.”

Your Support Creates Real Change
We know you’re here because you care—about mental health, about healing, and about what’s possible when we look beyond broken healthcare systems.
Onaya Science began this journey over a decade ago, working hand in hand with the Shipibo-Konibo people to research the transformative potential of sacred plant medicine.
Today, we stand at the forefront of integrating ancient wisdom with modern scientific research.
We are one of the only organizations in the world conducting rigorous scientific research on ayahuasca in Indigenous settings—with cultural humility, medical oversight, and a commitment to ethical integration.
This research will also usher in a new way of conducting science.
And mark the start of a new chapter in ethical, Indigenous-led research…
With the birth of a new research initiative:
Bridging Indigenous and Western Epistemological frameworks. Seeded and steered by Traditional Knowledge Keepers. Developing Indigenous-led ways of conducting scientific inquiry.
Stay tuned for more details.
We’ve proven what’s possible. Now, with your help, we can go further:
Unlock more healing
Share the data with the world
And protect the traditions that make this all possible
With your help, we can continue unlocking new treatment options, offering real hope to those who need it most.
