Dr Sandra Álvarez-Carretero
MSc, PhD
Sandra is a computational biologist working as a senior research associate in phylogenomics at University of Bristol. Her main interest is focused on developing and applying reproducible methods and pipelines to study evolutionary processes, and thus her research is focused on Bayesian timetree inference with molecular and morphological datasets (with both extant and fossil species).
She is a regular member of various scientific societies where she promotes scientific outreach, mentoring guidance, and fights for language barriers in science. Sandra spends most of her time volunteering at SRUK/CERU, where she is the web manager, the co-editor-in-chief of the Society's blog, and the current press director. In her spare time, she is an Ashtanga practitioner and piano player.
